The Two Fatalities Revealed in Brown University Incident as Police Continue Hunt for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who were killed in the weekend's violent attack at Brown University were being remembered Monday – while an intensive search for their killer carried on following the discharge by local law enforcement of the only individual questioned in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a gathering on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of the campus GOP group, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also shared condolences on social media, saying in part: “It's indescribable. Remembering her family and friends, especially her parents.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the Ivy League university, family members said.

The victim's identification was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were injured in the weekend shooting in the engineering building of Brown’s university in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said late Sunday that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a raid at a hotel about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you have to regroup and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate fresh anxiety for our community”.

The gunman began shooting inside a room in the engineering building on Saturday, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a authority reported to the news agency.

Law enforcement that raided the hotel recovered two firearms and two ammunition clips when the individual was taken into custody, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, one pupil was discharged from care, stated the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in critical but stable condition, and one was in critical condition, authorities stated on Sunday.

A private school, a private K-12 school in North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the club. “Ella was known for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she worked for her branch and other students,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the passing of Umurzokov in a statement. “We extend our sincere condolences to Mr Umurzokov’s family, loved ones, and peers and lament the passing of his bright future.”

The weekend's murders at Brown, the seventh oldest in the US college with about thousands of bachelor's and 3,000 graduate students, happened during one of at least 392 shooting incidents recorded nationally so far in this year, according to statistics. That Monday marked the 349th day of the year.
