One of the co-founders behind the well-known ice cream brand Ben & Jerry's has stated how corporate owner Unilever stopped the introduction for an innovative Palestine-themed ice cream flavor.

Ben Cohen, that established the business alongside Jerry Greenfield, revealed that he plans to independently develop this new flavor within a personal series showcasing issues the company has been barred from speaking out about.

Ongoing Dispute Between Creators versus Corporate Owner

The recent development escalates the ongoing tension between the world-famous ice cream maker with Unilever, the British consumer goods giant which has owned the ice cream brand since 2000.

Both founders have claimed that Unilever along with its ice cream arm Magnum unlawfully blocked Ben & Jerry's against "honouring its social mission".

The Fruit Sorbet as a Symbol of Support

The entrepreneur announced through social media how he is creating an innovative watermelon-flavored sorbet, asking for public suggestions for naming options plus additional components.

“I'm accomplishing what they couldn't,” Mr. Cohen declared in his kitchen. “I'm creating a watermelon-based ice cream that calls for lasting ceasefire in Palestine while demanding addressing the harm that was done there.”

This particular fruit has emerged as an emblem for support for Palestinians because of its colors, which mirror the colors in Palestine's national banner – red, green, black and white.

Previous Social Engagement plus Recent Developments

Several years ago, the ice cream company refused to sell its products in territories occupied by Israel, leading to the parent company transferring their Israel business over to an Israeli distributor, thereby permitting continued sales in disputed territories.

The new dessert series will be developed under Ben's Best, the activist ice cream brand that was first created several years back to support ex- political contender Bernie Sanders via the flavor "Bernie's Return".

Leadership Shifts and Upcoming Intentions

Mr. Cohen indicated that he will create additional ice cream flavors focusing on concerns which Ben & Jerry's was silenced from addressing publicly due to corporate restrictions.

This development follows partner Jerry Greenfield resigned from Ben & Jerry's recently, after many years with the organization, mentioning worries regarding how its independence had been compromised following corporate moves to curb its social activism.

Previously, Ben Cohen commented how "Jerry has a really big heart and the ongoing dispute with our parent company was deeply distressing him."

"My heart leads me to continue to work within the organization to advocate for corporate autonomy ensuring that it can achieve its ethical purpose, the values which it was founded on and has maintained for over 40 years," he explained to journalists.
