The former Liverpool manager admits rejoining to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.
Jurgen Klopp, who departed from Anfield in 2024, remarked that rejoining the club is something that could happen. Klopp, post a game-changing nine-year spell that included continental glory and ending the club's long wait since 1990, has since taken on roles overseeing worldwide football with the Red Bull group and providing guidance for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
Liverpool won the Premier League under Arne Slot, though countless followers who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the notion that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he told Steven Bartlett: “I said I will never coach any other side within the country. So that means if then it’s Liverpool...yeah. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“Being 58, that means I might decide in a few years, who knows. Must I choose now? Then I will not coach again. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I'll simply watch what the future brings.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Questioned regarding what circumstances would have to unfold to tempt his return to the touchline, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he stated. “No longing for management; I avoid standing during downpours for two-and-a-half or three hours; I'm glad to skip press conferences multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats a week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, however, dining out with the players having a nice chat, is pleasant. We won a lot of games meaning regularly positive atmosphere around the place. I still have the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears to illustrate.”
Praise for His Successor
He spoke highly of the current boss, praising him for the tweaks which secured the championship last term. They've been defeated a string of losses in every contest post heavy investment, but he rubbished the suggestion it could be a slump.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. The French striker, incredible player. It’s a really good balanced team. No need for concern over the club, things will improve.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, and the effect on Liverpool. The forward died tragically in a car crash together with his sibling this past summer.
“Who can fill the void of a person like him? It’s not about the player himself, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the team environment missing him. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. A profound tragedy for his teammates as well. Nobody at Liverpool would cite it for poor performances but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Dealing with that individually is challenging. Unbearable.”
