The Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting Against Los Angeles Dodgers
George Springer contributed to the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team reached their first Fall Classic following 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final game seven of the American League Championship Series.
Trailing three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run homer in the seventh, leading the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, holders of the current crown, in the forthcoming championship.
"It's incredible for this squad, Toronto, the nation," Springer stated, a star of the Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "What an unbelievable moment."
The veteran has now hit 23 total post-season home runs, ranking him third on the list after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of anyone else anywhere that I'd prefer in that situation except for Springer with his post-season brilliance," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson said "certainly that it's painful" after his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but commended their performance throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of this one," he remarked.
Toronto's team won the World Series on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the opener on this Friday.
