Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for concerns to be raised about his position after another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular exchanges I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them after this game so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period such as this with results this poor.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
