The winter transfer window proves to be a time of feverish rumour and possible major deals. Several prominent players are being linked with moves out of their present clubs. We examine some of the major names that could be on the move in January.

A. Semenyo

Despite Ghana's inability to reach the AFCON, which has kept the player in contention, indications are a significant transfer is close. The Bournemouth attacker has a contract featuring a £65 million release clause active for a brief period in early January. Recent developments point to the Premier League champions look to have won the race for his services. Former suitors like Tottenham and Chelsea are said to have turned their attention to other options, potentially opening the door for clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to make a late move.

M. Guéhi

This English defender has continued to impress for Palace despite a previous move to Liverpool falling through. As his deal due to run out in the summer, this represents the London club's last chance to obtain a transfer fee for their skipper. A host of elite clubs, such as City and multiple European giants including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to hold an interest. Yet, a winter exit remains difficult, particularly given the manager's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

This Wales winger has had first-team opportunities limited at Tottenham this term. Despite being the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, he has started just a handful of Premier League games. It is understood the London club is willing to consider a transfer for the correct price, believed to be in the around forty million pounds. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also credited with an inquiry.

Spurs value the Welsh international at approximately £40m.

Rúben Neves

This Portuguese midfielder could be poised for a comeback to the Premier League following a period in the Saudi Pro League. Now only twenty-eight, while his contract ending in the summer, he is a possible bargain. Teams such as Liverpool and Manchester United have been linked with the player. Additionally, there are suggestions from Spain that he would be prepared to take a reduced salary for a move to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced German shot-stopper is now as the third option at Barcelona under new manager Hansi Flick. After lost his place and had an operation, a winter exit looks highly likely. Aston Villa were once mentioned as a potential suitor, but that option currently seems unlikely. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be showing interest in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

The prolific English striker has continued finding the net frequently in Saudi Arabia. A return to the Premier League could enhance his fading hopes of making the England World Cup. However, arranging a transfer presents major challenges. Al-Ahli do not wish to part with him, and his reported enormous salary make any agreement difficult. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all mentioned as interested parties.

The striker was instrumental as Al-Ahli to victory in the Saudi Super Cup showpiece.

C. Gallagher

The dynamic English midfielder drew considerable attention in the off-season but remained at Atlético Madrid. With limited starting appearances in Spain this season, he is keen to secure more minutes ahead of the World Cup. Manchester United have been strongly connected, and a return to Crystal Palace, a club he excelled on a temporary deal, is also a option, though financial demands could prove a stumbling block.

Harvey Elliott

Despite excelling and being named the best player award at the U21 Euros last summer, the young midfielder has found it tough for minutes on loan at Villa. Unai Emery has confirmed the temporary transfer will not become permanent. Because of specific rules about playing for two clubs in a season, a move back to his parent club before next summer appears to be the sole available solution.

Kenan Yildiz

The exciting Turkey attacker has been in excellent form for Juventus this season. As his current contract nearing its end, many Premier League sides – such as Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are monitoring the developments. The Turin club are desperate to secure the 20-year-old to a lengthy agreement but are in a battle to keep one of the continent's most promising young talents.

Kees Smit

The much-admired Dutch teenage midfielder has earned parallels to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. Following impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ first team. This teenager is heavily tipped to make a major move in January. Newcastle reportedly are leading the chase, but are facing stiff rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing valued at approximately £22 million.
