The British heavyweight repeated his provocative remarks about wanting to “kill” Jake Paul during a media gathering in Florida on midweek.

The remarks were initially uttered on Tuesday when the boxer was questioned if he would show restraint against Paul, replying that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

The upcoming fight against the YouTuber-turned-boxer has drawn debate over the risk involved and the physical disparity between the two athletes.

Ex- world heavyweight champion The Gypsy King branded Anthony Joshua a “disgrace” for his inflammatory comments.

But the 36-year-old fighter, defended his position: “This is what I do, we fight. We have a licence to kill.

“I understand many people don't comprehend it but this is what my job is. I just enjoy what I do. The outcome, happens - provided that my hand is held high, that's what's important, with all due respect.”

He continued, “That's just the psychology we have to have as warriors. I'm unsure if other boxers think that way. Maybe they're a bit more tame. The way my mind works. When you're in the ring, it's a risky thing. Everything can happen.”

“You hope your adversary leaves the ring safely, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed aware you just did your job. It was purely professional.”

Jake Paul's Incendiary Retort

Jake Paul, a huge underdog in the fight as a career cruiserweight, was no less fiery in his retort.

“This is a modern day gladiator sport,” he stated. “I'm prepared. I want his most powerful punches. I want there to be no excuses when it's all over. Let's kill each other.”

AJ will face Paul, 28, at Miami's arena in a fight many consider a major mismatch, with some arguing it should have been sanctioned as an non-professional fight.

The professional contest will be fought over 8 3-minute stanzas using regular 10oz padded gloves, with a stipulated maximum weight for Joshua.

He Claims He Was “Brought In to Save” Boxing

Despite the extreme terminology used, Joshua claimed he has been “called in to rescue” the sport of boxing.

“They want me to put an end to the Jake Paul show and I understand it and that's why I have to carry boxing on my back in this bout,” he added.

The final staredown concluded without incident, with Paul striking a odd pose before Joshua remained composed and lightly touched his necklace.

Both Fighters Deny Pre-Arranged Allegations

The surreal aspect of this bout has led to speculation about its legitimacy, including suggestions that Joshua may be prohibited from knocking Paul out.

“There are no clauses in the contract, Joshua can attest to it. We're going to war,” Jake Paul insisted.

Joshua, wearing a expensive necklace, humorously added, “The only thing in the contract that got my attention was the payment.”

He has stated on social media that the fight earnings will be exceptionally large.

Paul first made his name as an online prankster, amassing a huge social media following.

He has never fought anyone of the former champion's calibre but insisted that his rival would not underestimate him.

“It's a wise move on his part,” Paul said. “This could possibly be, and will be, the greatest loss of his life.”

A win for Paul would be arguably the most shocking surprise in the boxing's annals.

It would undoubtedly leave an indelible stain on his legacy, but the fighter said it would not mean retirement.
