A Pig's Tale: Hog Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.
While perhaps not at the identical stature as sparing Thanksgiving turkeys, but the Miami-Dade County mayor had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a pig named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.
“The swine has done no wrong. She is worthy of this pardon. She has committed zero crimes,” stated the mayor in a speech with obvious nods to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued since the onset of a second term in office.
“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life away from worry.”
This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.
The pig, donated by a first responder, was given its name from the popular vernacular phrase of young people yelling “6-7” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The craze became so widespread that a leading lexicon site recently made “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.
A New Life
The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a countryside refuge “away from grills and cookware”, according to the event’s official press release.
“The pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a decidedly positive message.
“It represents the spirit of Miami: joyful, diverse, and rooted in traditions that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”
Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they marked the pig's pardon.
